This ‘guide’ is a product of the SoBio project, a collaboration between ECNC and social research institutions from a number of different European countries. SoBio provided a European overview of social science research in biodiversity and ecosystem management from Germany, Hungary, Norway, Romania, Slovakia, Spain and the United Kingdom. The project was funded by the European Commission as part of the European Sixth Framework research programme.

The guide also outlines opportunities and challenges to strengthen the link between social science and biodiversity. The SoBio project identified gaps in knowledge and developed suggestions for a social research programme that targets priority knowledge needs. These, too, you will find outlined in this guide.
