2012 - Creating Green Deals
Biodiversity is essential to businesses of any sort and the current losses of biodiversity, within Europe and globally, have the potential to become a bigger risk to businesses in the future than even the financial and credit crises.
Partnerships between businesses and environmental and non-governmental organizations in the field of nature and sustainability are very important to Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs); not least because they often do not have the knowledge or experience to engage in activities to protect biodiversity and may lack the financial means to involve consultants and experts to help them.
As part of ECNC's corporate objective under the 2012 NGO Grant to engage SMEs throughout Europe in agreeing Green Deals, a guide was produced, aiming to help SMEs to take up the challenge of protecting biodiversity and through that to provide security for the long-term sustainability of their businesses.
This guide gives examples of working partnerships and illustrates the bottlenecks and success factors that can allow for a successful cooperation between different organizations and the sharing of mutual benefits, both for the conservation of biodiversity and for business activities. The guide also offers some tips and tricks to establish good working partnerships.
A practical guide focusing on partnerships between businesses and environmental and non-governmental organizations in the field of nature and sustainability, available in seven languages.
