Since its establishment, ECNC has prioritized the development of partnerships and alliances, which could result in the following benefits for Europe's biodiversity and people:
- stronger pools of expertise and innovation, which will provide better and more comprehensive products for clients and/or funders;
- enhanced impact of activities;
- more benefits of scale and scope, resulting in more efficient processes;
- enhanced stakeholder involvement and understanding, resulting in more effective biodiversity approaches and increased potential for sustainable economic development.
ECNC’s principle partners are the Network Partners and the Coastal & Marine Union (EUCC). Other partnerships and alliances include:
- The European Environment Agency, with which ECNC has a memorandum of cooperation;
- The EEA’s European Topic Centre on Biological Diversity (ETC/BD), of which ECNC is consortium partner from the very beginning and to which ECNC has seconded a staff member, http://biodiversity.eionet.europa.eu;
- UNEP-Europe, with which ECNC has a memorandum of understanding;
- Council of Europe, with which ECNC has the co-secretariat of the Expert Committee on the Pan-European Ecological Network;
