Nature Outlook second stakeholder dialogue
On 17 and 18 March 2015, ECNC and PBL (Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency) organized a second stakeholder dialogue in support of the European Nature Outlook process. Over 40 participants attended the dialogue, which was held in the Museum of Natural Sciences in Brussels.
The ideas generated in the first dialogue (December 2014), were divided into four perspectives: 1) Wild Nature; 2) Cultural Nature; 3) Functional Nature; and 4) Boxed Nature. The participants of the second dialogue were asked to work out these perspectives in a ’World Café’ setting, which was facilitated and moderated by ECNC and PBL experts.
The Nature Outlook study explores perspectives on the future of nature in the EU. The Nature Outlook will serve as input for an informal Ministers Conference on the future of nature and biodiversity policies to be held in April 2016 under the Dutch presidency of the Council of the EU. The study is complementary to the mid-term review of the EU Biodiversity Strategy and the fitness check of the Birds and Habitats Directives, which are being carried out by the EC.
The next step is the formulation of policy messages. This will be discussed during the next stakeholder dialogue on 17 and 18 June 2015.
