Natura 2000 Communication Platform and LIFE Database to improve information sharing
On 15 September 2015, ECNC met with representatives from the EC and NEEMO, the external agency contracted by the EC to manage the LIFE Programme. ECNC is the lead contractor appointed by the EC to support the development and implementation of the Natura 2000 Biogeographical Process, which includes providing support for the maintenance and development of the Natura 2000 Communication Platform. The aim of this meeting was to agree objectives for improved information sharing between the Natura 2000 Biogeographical Process Platform and the LIFE Database. The main priority was to consider how best to increase access from a users’ perspective to information resources contained in both web-based resources. Various key fields and options for structuring search options were discussed and a development process agreed between ECNC and NEEMO, prior to liaising with the EC’s specialist IT staff.
This represents a significant step forward in planning to make the considerable volumes of information (project news and experience, libraries of project materials, including reports and relevant guidance documents, etc.) more easy to search and access according to the various needs of those working for Natura 2000, either as practitioners or in related policy fields.
