Do the sectors on spatial planning and ecological networks interact?
The Netherlands Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality funds this project, which aims at providing an answer to questions like: do both policy sectors start from the same conceptual and policy assumptions? What is the practical experience in Europe with regard to cooperation for implementing ecological networks? To what extent is the ecological network approach known and seen as relevant and applicable by various actors? And how can active involvement of the spatial planning sector be improved, if needed.

The project will not only deliver knowledge on the subject matter, but also aims at providing practical outcomes towards policy processes such as the development of the Pan-European Ecological Network, the EU Communication on Halting the loss of biodiversity by 2010 … and beyond, and the Convention on Biological Diversity.

ECNC will coordinate the project, that will be carried out by a team of six project partners and that will study European processes as well as cases in the Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, and Spain.
