Farmers and the Environment
BIOfACT: Assessing the factors that affect farmers willingness and ability to cooperate in biodiversity policies
The final output of the BIOfACT project has now been published. This is a handbook for policymakers aimed at assisting them in increasing the participation of farmers to incorporate biodiversity policies into agricultural practice. The book aims to provide insight into what is known about farmers, as land managers, who play a key role in shaping Europe’s biodiversity and rural environments. It particularly highlights the role of interactive policymaking, the use of networks and tools such as support services and voluntary agreements, for increasing the participation of farmers in biodiversity policies.
The project was funded under the EU's Fifth Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development.
