ECNC is a leading European organization in the field of biodiversity expertise, science and business, and is recognized for its important contributions and innovations in the field of biodiversity and sustainability. Its name is well established as a European biodiversity expertise centre for sustainable development. Its dynamic and extensive European network is continuously expanding. ECNC is a respected partner for national, regional and local governments, NGOs, commercial and financial sectors and expert institutes. ECNC’s offices and representations are based in Tilburg, the Netherlands, Budapest, Hungary, and Paris, France. ECNC has a dynamic international team of skilled and experienced staff members, who are keen to make a difference for Europe’s people and environment.

ECNC is also a European leader in information, awareness raising and communication for European nature through, amongst others:
• its Core Programme Areas, including the Programme 'Nature and Society';
• its frequently accessed website (c. 20.000 unique visitors every month).

ECNC is at the forefront of combining the interests of businesses with those of biodiversity conservation and sustainable use in Europe, and advocates the importance of marrying economic development and biodiversity through innovative and market-based approaches. ECNC holds the Secretariat and Chair of the European Task Force for Banking, Business and Biodiversity. ECNC is a partner of the NatureNet Europe alliance, including its promising Beautiful Europe initiative. ECNC also has a prominent role in the Countdown 2010 initiative, focusing on safeguarding Europe’s biodiversity by the year 2010.
