ECNC to provide ecological advice to landlord
ECNC staff are to contribute to the sustainable renovation of the office building in which the ECNC Secretariat is located. The landlord, Corpac House BV, intends to renovate the part of the office building that was constructed in the 1960s. In doing so, they have committed to sustainability and have applied for a BREEAM certification – a design and assessment method for sustainable buildings. An important component in receiving such a certificate is to ensure that no harm, or as little as possible, is done to local wildlife during the preparation and implementation of the renovation works.
The Corpac House has asked ECNC to provide its ecological expertise and the experience gained in designing and monitoring the biodiversity garden around the office building since 2010. We will inventory local wildlife on the three hectares of land, assess ecological potentials for future wildlife, and recommend practical measures for the construction companies to keep their damage to a minimum. At the same time, given the high ambition of the landlord to expand the biodiversity garden, we will advise on how the most efficient way to do this.
